Alberta’s Disaster Recovery Program supports small businesses with flood recovery funding. The Government of Alberta has approved the 2. Southern Alberta Disaster Recovery Program for southern Alberta communities affected by the recent flooding. Working closely with the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and local chambers of commerce, municipalities, First Nations and other stakeholders to assess the effects of flooding in southern Alberta on small businesses, the Government of Alberta is providing a direct interface with flood- affected areas of the province. Disaster recovery programs provide financial assistance for homeowners to repair or rebuild their primary residence and other uninsurable property damage and loss.
They also help communities, small businesses and agricultural producers recover from disasters. They are intended to cover the costs of returning essential property to the condition it was in before a disaster happened.
Registration centres have been set up and application processes are being established in communities where safe re- entry and rebuilding has begun.
